Dr Almir Badnjevic

Almir Badnjević received his PhD of Electrical Engineering at Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing Zagreb, University of Zagreb, Croatia, in 2015. From 2010. he is gaining an experience in Business and Academic area, parallel.
He is the founder of an idea of including Medical Devices into the Legal Metrology framework and establishing traceability of medical measurement. Based on his idea from 2015. medical devices are part of legal metrology framework in Bosnia and Herzegovina. This enabled him to establish one of the European the most equipped laboratories for testing and verification of Medical Devices, named Verlab (http://www.verlab.ba). The main purpose of the laboratory is to do annually verification of medical devices in all healthcare institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
From results in that field in 2017. as one of the Editors published a book in the Springer Nature titled: “Inspection of Medical Devices – for regulatory purposes”. Previously worked six years in Medical Devices industry, in the field of respiratory technology and blood gas analysis.
In Academic Area, from 2015. working as Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences at International Burch University (http://www.ibu.edu.ba). Together with his team he established the first Bachelor, Master and PhD degree program from Bioengineering in the country. He is also working as Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering Sarajevo, University of Sarajevo (http://www.etf.unsa.ba) in the field of Biomedical Engineering and Expert Systems.
In 2014. founded and became a President of Bosnia and Herzegovina Medical and Biological Engineering Society (http://www.dmbiubih.org) which is country representative in IFMBE and EAMBES. This Society organized in 2015. and 2017. International Conference on Medical and Biological Engineering (CMBEBIH) (http://www.cmbebih.com) which gathered more than 700 participants from 40 different world countries. He is the Board member of IEEE TC on Cardiopulmonary Systems, board member of ESEM (EU organization for Educating Students in Engineering and Medicine), board member of IFMBE Clinical Engineering Division and Councilor for Regulatory Affairs in EAMBES (European Alliance for Medical and Biological Engineering and Science). He is the author or coauthor of more than 70 publications. His CV is included in Marquis Who’s Who in the World in 2016. He is IEEE Senior Member. Together with his team received Clinical Engineering the best manuscript award for 2018.
