Bubble Morphogenesis

Soap films are fascinating objects to study due to their varied geometries and (sometimes turbulent) intricate flow patterns. In this talk, I will explore the Turing-esq pattern formations which occur as the bubble is near collapse. The quasi-wrinkling behaviour can be viewed as the beginning of the onset of film rupture, giving insight into the start of this stochastic process. Moreover, these transient pattern formations may hold a clue to local gravitational strength as the geometry transitions from 2-d (flat film) to 3-d (draining under gravity).
