Image Processing and Expert Systems (IPES) Laboratory

Research areas

Our research is extensive and covers the following areas:

  • Affective computing (emotion computing) via analysis of facial expressions and EEG signals
  • Video surveillance: gait recognition, human activity recognition
  • Autonomous navigation: Stereo and 3D image processing for collision avoidance
  • Tracking: hand tracking, tracking of 3D surfaces using multiple cameras
  • Scene flow and motion estimation
  • Three dimensional object/scene reconstruction: shape from silhouettes, structure from motion, depth from defocus
  • Multiscale image processing: texture segmentation, filtering
  • Image enhancement
