Underground Laboratory
Underground Laboratory for Experiments on Laminar-Turbulent Transition in Compressible, Supersonic Flow:
We are initiating a new, long-term project to study laminar-turbulent transition in compressible, supersonic flow. For this project we are planning a unique, new test facility. Because of safety implications, in case of a catastrophic failure of the facility, we have decided to build the rig in an underground laboratory located behind the main Engineering building. There will also be an associated control room above ground. Building of the underground laboratory commenced on Wednesday 17th August 2005.
