Biography
Professor Geng's research has strongly focused on railway track design, railway embankment stability analysis, in-situ testing, instrumentation, retaining structures, ground improvement techniques, geohazards, constitutive and numerical modelling. Her research contributions have been instrumental in changing the often conservative industry practices, including revisions to Australian Standards.
Research Interests
One of her major research interests and also one of the key strengths is the willingness and ability to work closely with industry in understanding and finding solutions to the real field problems and being able to disseminate the salient research outcomes to considerable and tangible industry benefits. She was received Vice-Chancellor’s Award for Outstanding Achievement in Research Partnership (University of Wollongong, Australia) for her research impact in industry.
- Ground Improvement: vertical drain, geosynthetic reinforcement, biopolymer reinforcement
- Soil Dynamics: soil dynamic testing & numerical modelling
- Geohzards: landslides, slope stability, debris flow
- Railway engineering: track design
