To Do List
- Please write a simple Fortran program on the solar machine, just to see whether there is any fundamental errors. Compile and run it, and then report back below. - YMC 7/07/06
- First thing first: Have you tried the above task? Writing a simple Fortran program on solar? JUst make sure that you can compile a Fortran program. - YMC 14/07/06
- Next: As I remember, you have been using PuTTy and WinSCP3 at home. Is it something new? PuTTy and WinSCP3 should be working on campus. The University has set up a firewall and it makes any access to the machine from outside rather troublesome. Just to check if it works on campus. - YMC 14/07/06
- I compiled the program on solar and there was no problem. So, please try again. As I told you before, change RESTRT=1 to RESTRT=0 in the program, when you start the simulation. - YMC 18/07/06.
- Plot the flow chart of the code in sub-directory CODE below. And also visit Research Tools/Fortran Compiler webpage. YMC 25/07/06
- For how to run the code, see CODE webpage. - YMC 1/08/06

Questions

I tried to compile the program again, but it still gives me error while compiling. I also tried compiling on windows compiler, it gives me a big list of errors. I dont understand why am i getting the errors. Please let me know what has to be done. 18/07/06 - M.Z.

(Ma=0.5, Pr=1, Re=700, Sc=1, and the grid size NX=199, NY=199, NZ=1). - M.Z. 17/08/06
-
First, Longer simulations are needed. Increase the NSTEP=? five times or ten times the previous values.
-
Run several simulations with different parameters:
-
MA=0.3, 0.5, 0.7, or
-
Pr=0.7, 1, 5, 10, or
-
Re=300, 500, 1000 (for example)
-
Change the boundary condition to free jet (refer to the journal papers you read.
-
Be careful, it may not be very simple. So, as a backup, run the above simulations.
-
Use the same parameter as the impinging jet (RE, MA, PR, SC, etc)
-
If everything goes well, then you can analyse the free jet flow data, but if it is not, then you have to use the impinging jet flow data instead.
-
Good Luck! - YMC 21/08/06
