Star CCM+ Session 1

Introduction to Star-CCM+: Internal Flow Simulation

  • Internal flow simulation
  • Starting Star-CCM+ and accessing the tutorials
  • Completion of Tutorials on Mixed Pipeflow & Mesh Generation (found in Star CCM+ tutorials under 'Training Guide', 'Tutorials' and 'Simple Flows')
  • The note for this session can be downloaded (and a SolidWorks pipe geometry file)

Star CCM+ Session 2

Setting up a simulation

  • External flow simulation
  • Students will be given a geometry and given guidelines on how to set this up in Star CCM+
  • The notes for this session is available for download with an accompanying SolidWorks geometry file.

Star CCM+ Session 3

Grid Refinement

  • Using the simulations from Session 2, students will be investigating the effect of grid refinement
  • The notes for this session can be downloaded.

External Flow Simulation

Star CCM+ Session 5

SolidWorks Model

  • This session will examine a number of features that may be useful for your project.
  • Build a (very) simple model first for your project. Do not spend more than 15 minutes for this.
    • Revisit the last Week's material on how to build a good WolidWorks model for Star-CCM+.
  • Import the SolidWorks file into Star-CCM+.
  • Set up and run the simulation.
  • Does it work? Great!
  • Now you are ready to try more realistic final model.
