Work Flow:

• Isolate DNA (a lot)
  
• Restriction digest
• Gel electrophoresis
• Transfer fragments to nitrocellulose membrane filter
• Use radio-labelled oligonucleotides (short DNA sequences) to probe the fragments
• The labelled short DNA sequences that are complementary to the fragments allow visualisation on photographic paper (Southern blot).
