Outreach work by Maths students
Throughout the year, our students have plenty of opportunities to get involved in our outreach work. This might include creating content to help make mathematics more accessible or to tell previously untold stories about the subject, or it could see our students running engagement events and workshops with school pupils or the general public. As of October 2024, we also have a module about communicating mathematics that was co-created between our students and staff, and has produced a fantastic collection of fresh and engaging content about a range of mathematical subjects and issues.
The pages showcase the range of our students' work - from research projects and resources, through to projects created for the communicating mathematics module. Please feel free to explore, share and use our students' content, with appropriate attribution.
Communicating Maths
This module was co-created by students and launched in 2024. It gives students training in public engagement in mathematics, and opportunities to put this into practice - partly by creating video, audio and written content about a range of mathematical topics.
Diversity in Maths
Our students researched diversity in maths and uncovered some fascinating stories. Topics included decolonising maths, racial bias in medical statistics, and mathematical texts from non-European countries that have been crucial for the development of the subject.
URSS projects
Each summer, a number of our students complete their own research project as part of the University's Undergraduate Research Support Scheme. Explore the archive of our students' work to better understand the range of research happening at Warwick.
