PlagiarWISe: Teaching students the benefits of avoiding plagiarism

PlagiarWISe: Teaching students the benefits of avoiding plagiarism

Wednesday 26th April 2017 12:30pm – 1:30pm

Julie Robinson - Julie is the Academic Services Development Manager for the Library.

The PlagiarWISe tutorial started life as a smallscale project developed by Julie for LDC’s Postgraduate Award in Technology Enhanced Learning, but the further her research progressed, the more apparent the need for improved support in this area became and the larger the project grew. In this session, Julie will be talking about the challenges that this expansion of the original proposal has brought, report on the current status of the project and outline the ways in which the resulting suite of resources can be used by academic staff to help their students better understand the issues around plagiarism and referencing.

Lunch will be provided.

Have you thought about trying something new in your teaching next academic year?

Sometimes even moving a session to a different environment can improve student engagement. We’d like to invite academics from the Medical School to visit the Teaching Grid for an Open House event on Thursday 15th September between 12 noon and 2pm. A buffet lunch is provided and you will be able to see the space set up for different teaching methods. Staff will be on hand to answer questions on how we can support you in using the space for your teaching, and inspire and engage your students.
