Professional Development
"The training and development opportunities provided by the department are above and beyond what I ever expected from a PhD programme."
We are proud of our dynamic student training community:
- Our first year students all undertake outstanding training in their MSc in Interdisciplinary Biomedical Research, learning and enhancing their quantitative and interdisciplinary skills. All PhD students undertake high quality research, either on projects across two academic disciplines or on collaborative Warwick/industry projects.
- We provide a suite of skills workshops to students across all years of the programme, starting with key communication and presentation skills, and culminating in a specialist bioscience careers workshop for PhD students. All students also attend wellbeing and stress reduction sessions and can access innovation and entrepreneurial skills training.
- We have an annual programme of visiting career speakers drawn from a wide range of professional backgrounds, who share their personal career stories as well as careers guidance and sector-specific advice.
- Our regular cohort events are at the heart of our community culture, including student chalk talks, social events, the annual student conference and joint student conferences with other MRC DTPs.
