Amy Elliot

I completed a four-year MSc Physics degree at Warwick University. The flexibility of the module system meant I could learn about the subjects that would benefit my career choice but also delve into subjects that interested me but I did not wish to pursue as a career, such as astrophysics and exoplanets. The Warwick Physics course taught me vital skills such as problem-solving and teamwork. I am working towards accreditation as a Radiation Protection Adviser and a Laser Protection Adviser. As a result, I go to many different client locations; research, industrial, medical, nuclear, and military, to see what they are working with to ensure they remain compliant with the law and are keeping people safe. Many of these clients are working on cutting-edge research or with state of the art technology. The Warwick Physics degree gave me a good overall understanding of physics, as well as in-depth knowledge in specific subjects in order to support these clients and understand what they are trying to do. This way I can produce advice that keeps people safe, but does not hinder their research and progress. I am grateful to the physics lecturers who are passionate about their subjects and passed on that enthusiasm for physics to their students.
