Joe's poster was focused on low activation joining methods for cWCs and RSBs on steel for nuclear applications. This is based on his research of novel refractory shielding materials for nuclear fusion reactors.

The conference held in Sri Lanka brings together scientists, technologists and manufacturers of Hard Materials with sessions and talks running throughout the duration. Representation from both industrial and scientific fields were included, with topics ranging from the fundamental aspects of hard materials to implementing AI and simulation into hard materials research. Energy applications were also presented alongside a clear drive to reduce the environmental impact of materials research by recycling materials.

ICSHM12 showcased cutting-edge fabrication and characterization methods for hard materials that will have a large impact on future research for all involved in the field.
