UHCW Visit - 27th January 2026

There will be a visit for any Physics staff and students who would like to see the medical physics facilities in our local hospital: UHCW (University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire). The University Hospital is on the northern side of Coventry and is a major clinical imaging and radiotherapy centre.

This is a chance to learn about the application of physics to medicine including:

  • career opportunities in Medical Physics. The 'Scientist Training Program (STP) is the main route into a career as a medical physicist. https://nshcs.hee.nhs.uk/programmes/stp
  • an opportunity to meet & ask questions of medical physicists
  • tours of the equipment which may include radiotherapy, nuclear medicine, ultrasound, MRI & X-ray

The visit will be from 6 - 8pm on Tuesday 27th January 2025 with a coach leaving from Car Park P19, by Bluebell - please be there by 5.15pm to board to the coach which will be leaving promptly at 5.30pm. The coach will also bring people back, leaving the hospital at 8pm.

Places are limited to 50 students. Those registered on PX3A8 will have priority until Friday 16th Jan and thereafter places will be allocated on a first to sign up basis. Once the form is closed due to reaching capacity, please email Physicsug@warwick.ac.uk to be added to the waiting list.
