Manels, Wanels and vacuuming - can conferences be more inclusive?

A ground-breaking collection of papers examining gender, conference participation, and academic progress across the globe has been co-edited by Warwick researcher Dr Emily Henderson. Thoughtful Gatherings, a special issue of the academic journal Gender and Education, is the first collection of gender and feminist scholarship specifically focusing on conferences and includes papers from the US, the UK, Australia, New Zealand, and India.


Local residents entertained, challenged and moved by ESRC Festival of Social Science

More than 500 people took part in the workshops, talks and activities organised by the University of Warwick for this year’s ESRC Festival of Social Science. University researchers took to Coventry and Warwickshire’s streets, bars and community centres to share insights from their work with enthusiastic and interested audiences. The events tackled topics from the nature of time itself and the puzzle of DNA to taxes and accents.


New scholarship support for Islamic Education at the University of Warwick

A gift from the COSARAF Charitable Foundation will support a Masters scholarship for Islamic Education in the Centre for Education Studies at the University of Warwick as part of a major programme of support launched today. The Sheikh Family Scholarship will be open to Muslim home students who are facing financial hardship. Priority will go to those students for whom this will make most difference and who have a clear commitment to giving back to society and their communities.
