SAS HOW #2: Uncertainties in stellar properties determination

- Export as iCalendar
Location: Zoom & Slack

Following the fruitful HOW #1 in November 2020, now that the baseline of the SAS pipeline is set up, we must focus on the crucial issue of determining reliable uncertainties that the Stellar Analysis Pipeline will provide for, and along with, the output data products. To that end, we need to define, not only the way random and systematic errors, and correlations will be assessed within each module, but also, the proper way to propagate these errors throughout the end-to-end SAP. The question of trading off between mathematical accuracy and computation time might arise too. All these issues need to be discussed.

HOW #2 is designed on the same format as HOW #1, with 4 afternoons of video-conferences scheduled from the 12th to the 15th of April 2021. We are aware of the date overlap with PLATO Week 11 (13th to 16th of April), and so are the PLATO Week organisers, hence we will try to avoid having topic overlap as much as possible, on both sides. WP12 members are expected to prioritise this workshop.

Attendance at this workshop is by invitation only, but if we have forgotten anyone you wish to see taking part, please let us know. Owing to ongoing COVID-19 restrictions the workshop will be held over Zoom. It will not be broadcast externally, but the WP12 office wishes to record it for its own use. Please let us know if you do not wish to be recorded. A Slack workspace will be open, in order to foster fruitful and trackable discussions.
