Birefringence Imaging Microscopy
We have a Metripol system mounted on a Nikon E400 microscope that can be used with a Linkham THMS600 stage to allow birefringence imaging between 100 and 873 K. This technique in conjunction with a CCD detector allows the components of the measured light intensity to be split into seperate false colour images of the |sinδ|, orientation angle (ψ) and transmitted light intesity (I0) independent of the birefringence contribution.
