Warwick Statistics & The National Archives joint project shortlisted for 2022 DAS / SDP Practice Award
Joint research between the department's Applied Statistics & Risk Unit and The National Archives has been shortlisted for the international 2022 Decision Analysis Society / Society of Decision Professionals Practice Award.
The joint project designed and built a probabilistic model for analysing and quantifying risks to digital objects in the archives. The National Archives was able to use the outputs of the model to quantify changes in risk to digital archives to quantify return on investment for its business case for funding to the UK government spending review. As a result, The National Archives has been able to a secure substantial uplift in funding to reduce risk to its existing collection and bring more records into their stewardship.
