R Foundations 2024 Sign-Up Form

This course is primarily aimed at first year Statistics PhD students. It has been developed as a prerequisite for those attending the Academy for PhD Training in Statistics (APTS)Link opens in a new window to cover the R material that’s required for those modules, though it is open to all interested members of the university, space permitting.

We cover at introduction to R and RStudio; Data types, structures, and data wrangling using the tidyverse; programming in R; simulation and optimisation; graphics (both base and ggplot2), and Quarto.

The sessions are on the following times/days:

Mondays week 4, 6 and 8

  • 10:30-12:00

Thursdays week 4, 6 and 8

  • 12:30-14:00

All sessions take place in room A1.28 in Milburn House.

The form closes on October 16th 2024 and you will be notified if you have a place on October 17th at the latest. Note that all first year PhD students in the Statistics department are guaranteed a place.
