  1. Hi My name is Louise

I have taken on the role as professional mentor at The Rawlett School in Tamworth. We are currently a 11-16 school. I only joined the school in September as Vice Principal but I have  been the professional mentor in my last school and before that a subject based mentor. I have always loved working with trainees as you get to talk about education and be reminded why we do what we do.

  2. Hi! I'm Steph and I am a subject mentor for my school, a large comprehensive in Warwickshire. Always keen on working with trainees as everyone benefits from this experience!

  3. Hi - I'm Gemma. I have taken on the role of subject mentor as this is a great opportunity to share good practice and create enthusiasm for teaching as a career. I have taken on this role before and I really enjoyed it.

  4. Hi everyone,

I'm Oliver and I'm an English teacher at Phoenix Collegiate in West Bromwich (mixed comprehensive). I've done mentoring for a number of years at my school and I'm quite passionate about enabling trainee teachers to meet the standards and to find their most suited style. I'd also say I'm quite hands-on in terms of support and am always available to help out with any advice/strategies. After the initial hub training session a few weeks ago, I like how Warwick advocate the idea of trainees having an active role in their progress and having ample opportunity to develop their own unique style of teaching.

  5. hi I am Imran, Head of Science at a local school in  Coventry. I am extremely passionate about teaching and learning and want to share this passion with students. I enjoy being a teacher and am determined to have a positive impact on the education of as many young people as I can. As a highly reflective teacher, I feel I have a lot to bring to the role, am approachable and can draw on my own experiences and that of my colleagues to help guide a student.

  9. Hello my name is Duncan Radford. I work at Finham Park School in Coventry and I have taught art & Design for 20 years. I have experienced many significant changes in education at subject, whole school and national levels. I have opted to be a personal mentor for the PGCE training program so I can share my knowledge and experience of teaching as a subject/ Faculty leader and subject specialist. I have developed and engaged in numerous effective teaching and learning strategies over time. As a mentor I can reflect and draw on the outcomes and results of this experience with a PGCE trainee.

  10. Hi, I'm Laura. I work at a MAT (11-18) in Coventry and have been mentoring NQT and ITT for the past 4 years; though never before with a Warwick students. I have taken on a mentoring role within the Warwick University Partnership because I really appreciated the role that my subject mentor had in developing my practice when I was training and I enjoy supporting others as they take their first steps into the teaching profession.

  12. Getting to know other mentors

Hi, I’m Kate. I am an English teacher at an 11-18 Academy. I trained with Warwick a few years ago so I am excited help new teachers train under the same process I am familiar with. I wanted to take on the role of subject mentor as I have worked with mentoring NQT teachers in the past and really enjoyed having conversations about teaching as well as learning from each others practice.

  13. Getting to know other mentors

    Hi

My name is Juliette. I have mentored trainees in the past and have really enjoyed it, so was really pleased to be asked to do it at my current school. I believe that mentoring is a two way process as it allows for a good dialogue between mentor and mentee. Really pleased to be working with Warwick.

  15. Getting to know other mentors

Hi my name is Rav and I have been a teacher for 10 years. I wanted to become a mentor as i wanted to help others find a love for teaching which i have. I also wanted to help others realise their teaching ability and also develop my own skills in supporting colleagues. I also wanted to make sure that trainees under my mentoring had a real experience of teaching and did not have any misconceptions of what is required as teaching has changed considerably over the last few years. I also believe we need to ensure we support trainees are retained in teaching of which we now have mass shortages.

Hi I'm Ross.  I qualified 6 years ago and for the past 3 years have enjoyed mentoring new entrants to the profession.  Hopefully by sharing some of my experiences I can help trainees to find their feet during their qualifying year and beyond.

  17. Getting to know other mentors

Hi.  My name is Clare and I am Deputy Head and mentor at my school - a large junior school.  This is my second year as mentor and I am hoping to further refine my mentoring skills alongside supporting the trainees working with us.  I really enjoyed the role last year and it was a pleasure to see future teachers grow and develop within the classroom environment.  For me, clear dialogue and a solution focused approach with trainees is key.  I am looking forward to another exciting year of quality teaching!
