I am an EAL advisory teacher currently working for Coventry Ethnic Minority Achievement Service (EMAS) and on a free-lance basis in both primary and secondary schools in Solihull. I have been working with EAL learners both as a school based EAL coordinator and as an advisory teacher for Coventry and Solihull local authorities for the last 18 years. Prior to that I was a mainstream MFL secondary teacher.

Supporting newly arrived and more advanced EAL learners in your classrooms

Abstract/Brief Summary:

We will be looking at the differences between newly arrived and more advanced EAL learners and strategies that we can use in the classroom to help them demonstrate their skills and knowledge and access the mainstream curriculum.
