About me
I joined the Economics Department as a Professor in September 2020 and became Deputy Head of Department (Teaching and Learning) in August 2022. I became Deputy Chair of the Social Sciences Faculty with responsibility for Education in September 2023, and then Academic Director for the Social Sciences Connect Programme in April 2024. I became a Fellow of the Warwick International Higher Education Academy (WIHEA) in January 2021 and co-chaired the Teaching Reward and Recognition WIHEA Learning Circle in the 21/22 academic year. In the 23/24 academic year I co-chaired the Digital Education and Technologies for Teaching Assessment (DETTA) WIHEA Learning Circle.
I am a member of the Government Regulatory Policy Committee and I am the Deputy Director of The Economics Network. I was previously Deputy Dean at Aston Business School, and prior to that worked at the Universities of Huddersfield, Lancaster and Manchester. My undergraduate degree was in PPE from Oxford University and my Masters and PhD degrees are from the University of Manchester.
I'm an applied industrial economist with published research looking at firms' advertising, quality signalling and pricing decisions, and firms' responses to competition policy investigations. I have published in the field of applied education economics and I also have a long-standing interest into the use of appropriate technologies in teaching as well as economics pedagogy more generally.
