Law Student Gains Place on British Councils Generation UK China Campaign

Law Student to Present Research at 2015 BCUR
Elle Sheerin, a Third Year student, is to present her research from the Law School’s Law and Disorder module at the 2015 British Conference of Undergraduate Research (BCUR)
. We are delighted that Elle will be representing Warwick Law School at this prestigious event, and are happy to be meeting her registration costs for the event.
Law Student Success in URSS Bursaries
Eight Law School students have been successful in their applications for URSS (Undergraduate Research Scholarship Scheme) bursaries
. The bursaries will support the students’ undergraduate research projects over the summer.
Warwick Law Degrees re-accredited In Singapore
The Law School is delighted to announce that Warwick law degrees have been re-accredited for the purpose of joining the legal profession in Singapore, following a thorough review conducted by the Singapore Government as a result of which the number of accredited UK Law Schools has been reduced from 19 to 11.

MSP Visit to Clifford Chance
A group of students from the Law School’s Multicultural Scholars’ Programme (MSP) were invited to visit the UK headquarters of Clifford Chance on Wednesday 4th March. The visit included an application workshop, a networking lunch with current trainees (including Warwick/MSP graduates), a tour of the building and a talk on the relationship between law, business and human rights.

MSP student represents UK in 'Ship for World Youth Programme'
Isma'il Mustafa, one of our 2nd year LLB MSP scholars, was selected to represent the UK in the 2015 ‘Ship for World Youth programme’
sponsored by the Japanese government. In this programme more than 200 international students come together to foster mutual understanding, cultural exchange, friendship and cooperation in order to promote youth leadership and cultivate international understanding.
Dr Ana Aliverti awarded the British Academy Rising Star Engagement Award
Dr Ana Aliverti has been awarded the British Academy Rising Star Engagement Award (BARSEA).
The BARSEA aims at providing an opportunity for early career researchers who have established their academic credentials as leaders in their field to enhance their skills and career development through playing a leading role in engaging others through the organisation of engagement events.
Prof Jackie Hodgson: Prisoner voting rights - is Parliament missing the point?
Professor Jackie Hodgson, Director of the University of Warwick’s Criminal Justice Centre at the School of Law, said: “Once again the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) has ruled that a complete ban on prisoner voting rights is incompatible with the UK’s commitment to the First Protocol to the European Convention of Human Rights."
Law School receives funding for International Economic Law in Context Workshop Series
Dr Celine Tan and Prof John McEldowney have been successful in their application to the SLSA Annual Seminar Competition for part funding of the proposed International Economic Law in Context Workshop Series. The series is planned to start in the 2015-2016 academic year.
In Memoriam: Mr. Steven Edmonds
The Law School community will be saddened to hear of the recent death of Steve Edmonds, Senior Associate Fellow. Steve graduated from Warwick in the early years of the University, and after establishing himself as a practising solicitor, he returned to the Law School on a part-time honorary basis to provide tuition in English Legal System and Family Law subjects until 2014. He will be fondly remembered by the many generations of law graduates whom he taught and by his former colleagues.
