Isabelle Atkins
Profile
I'm a first-year PhD student in PAIS. I hold a first-class BA (Hons) in PAIS and a Master's in US Foreign Policy, both from the University of Warwick. My PhD, funded by the Economic and Social Research Council, is provisionally entitled "The Collective Action Frames of the Christian Nationalist Movement: Political Impact of Donald Trump and the Republican Party Since 2016." I am researching how the social movement of Christian Nationalism forms and mobilises political beliefs, and how those beliefs benefit and have been furthered by the Trump administration.During my time at Warwick, I was recipient of the David Mervin Prize (2017/18) and studied my Master's having received a full scholarship from the Snowdon Trust. My research interests broadly encompass US religious politics – everything from foreign policy to healthcare. My PhD is supervised by Dr Steve Kettell and Prof Trevor McCrisken.
Outside of my research, I am a strong advocate for greater accessibility for disabled scholars in higher education and postgraduate research. I am a wheelchair user who is accompanied by my assistance dog, Rumba, around campus; if her presence poses an issue to us meeting for whatever reason, please do let me know and I'll strive to accommodate you. In 25/26 I am a Senior Graduate Teaching Assistant on PO107: Introduction to Politics. A link to book into my A&F can be found in my email footer.
