Profile
I am a third-year doctoral researcher at the Department of Politics and International Studies. I hold an MPhil in International Relations and Politics from Jesus College, Cambridge and a BSc in Politics and Philosophy from the London School of Economics. My research is supervised by Professor Matthew Watson and Dr. Chris Clarke.
Research
My doctoral research investigates how financial models are strategically deployed by financial actors, drawing together insights from the international political economy (IPE), critical finance, and philosophy of science literatures. I challenge extant contributions which have viewed financial models as 'performative,' and argue that an 'artefactual' account of modelling allows us to better understand the political significance of financial modelling practices. Using comparative case studies, my project investigates how financial models and modelling practices serve diverse cognitive, calculative, and communicative purposes for actors with different strategic interests across the investment chain.
