MA Philosophy and the Arts Module Pre-registration 2025-2026

It is important that we gather information on your module preferences for the coming year to support with module availability and planning. While your selections at this stage are not binding, we strongly encourage you to complete this form, as the availability of modules will be based on the level of interest in each module.

The deadline for pre-registration is 12th September.

All MA Philosophy and the Arts students must take modules totalling 180 CATS, including both core and optional modules from Philosophy and other departments.

This form is for Philosophy modules only. For the purposes of this form, please select between 60 and 120 CATS of modules (including the core module). Do not include any modules you intend to audit. Your remaining CATS will be selected from other departments.

Core Module

PH9F7 Topics in Philosophy and the Arts (30 CATS) is a core module for all MA Philosophy and the Arts students.

Optional Modules

Please select your remaining Philosophy modules. You must select at least 30 CATS and no more than 90 CATS of optional modules.

It is strongly recommended that you split your modules evenly across the two teaching terms.

All part-time students must take the core module, PH9F7 Topics in Philosophy and the Arts (30 CATS) and a minimum of one other 30 CAT module in their first year of study, but may choose to do more if preferred. All remaining modules to make up the required 180 CATS should be taken in year 2, in line the regulations for the chosen route (with or without a dissertation).

Please note that you may take either the Dissertation module or the Independent Project module, but not both.

Please keep a note of the modules you have pre-registered for as you will need this when Module Registration opens in September.
