Prerequisites

Initial familiarity with programming (e.g., in Python or R)
A good understanding of basic statistics as far as regressions
No prior knowledge of machine learning required

£295 including one night of accommodation in Warwick's on-campus conference centre, located within just a few minutes' walking distance of the event. Breakfast is included.

£195 with no accommodation included.

£155 for University of Warwick staff and students (no accommodation included). A limited number of £75 bursaries are also available for Warwick PhD students on a first come, first served basis.

Travel information

Warwick Business School is part of the University of Warwick, one of the UK’s top universities. Our beautifully landscaped campus is located in the centre of England, within an hour of the city of London and only twenty minutes from Birmingham Airport.

North of Oxford, we are close to cosmopolitan Birmingham, City of Culture Coventry, Regency town Leamington Spa, and pretty Warwick with its medieval castle. The historic battlefields that saw Richard III defeated are just a few miles away, as is the birthplace of Shakespeare and the home of Royal Shakespeare Company in Stratford-upon-Avon.

Overnight accommodation for the summer school will be in Scarman, Warwick Conferences. Please book your own travel to the event.

Find us by car

Our campus is on the outskirts of Coventry, a couple of miles from the junction of the A45 and A46. It is not in the town of Warwick. You can locate us by postcode: CV4 7SH. All approach routes for cars travelling to the University are clearly signposted "The University of Warwick".

For external participants staying in overnight accommodation, free car parking is available at Warwick Conferences. Follow signs for Lakeside Village and you will then find signposts for Scarman. You will need to register your vehicle before arriving, and will receive a promotional code ahead of the summer school to enable you to do this. There is a charging point for electric vehicles at Scarman.

Parking is also available elsewhere on the University campus. There are also further charging locations.

Find us by train

The nearest train station is Coventry, a 10-15 minute taxi journey from campus (approximate fare £15-£20 one way). The number 12X bus also goes from the station to campus.

Coventry railway station is around:

One hour from London Euston railway station
12 minutes from Birmingham International railway station, serving Birmingham Airport (BHX)
20 minutes from Birmingham New Street railway station, serving Birmingham city centre.

Find us by plane

The nearest airport is Birmingham (BHX), which serves most major airlines and many smaller ones too. WBS is about a 20 minute taxi journey from the airport (approximate fare £30-£40 one way).

Alternatively, it is a short monorail ride from the airport terminal to Birmingham International railway station, where you can catch a train to Coventry railway station (under £5 return). Trains leave every 20 minutes, with more trains at peak times. See the tab above to find out more about reaching the campus by train.

London Heathrow (LHR), London Luton (LTN), London Gatwick (LGW) and London Stansted (STN) also offer a variety of international flights. All are connected by train to Coventry.

Summer school locations on the campus map

All tutorials will take place in M1, WBS Teaching Centre.

Coffee breaks (other than at registration) will take place in Radcliffe Lounge, and lunches in Radcliffe Restaurant.

The summer school barbecue will take place at Scarman Conference Centre.

Presenting a poster

If you would like to present a poster describing your research at the summer school, please submit the title of your poster when registering.

Participants will be expected to print their own posters and bring them to the event on the morning of Tuesday 4th June, so that they can be mounted for the poster session in the afternoon.

The usual size for academic posters is A0, but you can choose to bring a smaller poster if you prefer.
