Change to ITS Directories - Impact on Managed Desktop Log-In

To make the management of ITS accounts more efficient we will be making a change to the way in which the current ITS directories are structured.  Testing has shown that this work will have no impact, although, once the work has taken place, Managed Desktop users will need to delete and re-enter their Username the next time they log-in to update the client.  The work will be taking place in batches over the coming weeks, if you experience problems logging in please delete and re-enter your Username in the log-in box before contacting support.

Staff Membership System – Important Information

From the 1st October 2009 the University will be harmonising the conditions of employment for salaried staff.  This will in turn have an effect on some IT systems,  for instance within IT Services Membership and related systems it will no longer be possible to identify Manual, Clerical and Academic related staff as distinct categories.  They will all appear as ‘Staff’.

Where possible IT Services has worked with customers, who previously used these distinctions,  to ensure minimal interruption to service and that an update to processes takes place. If you are aware of any process that would be adversely affected by the proposed changes please contact IT Services (customerservice at warwick dot ac dot uk) for details of timing and early information on the detail changes.

Do you have multiple ITS accounts?

IT Services is currently running a project to simplify the management of IT accounts within the University.  In the course of the project we have found many ‘multiple accounts’ – that is, one person with more than one IT account (user code).  If you have more than one account, we would be grateful if you could complete a short online questionnaire to assist us with this project.

Phishing email requesting account details

A number of people are receiving emails purporting to be from the University, requesting that the user confirms their email account details – username and password.  This is a “phishing” email and is an attempt to capture personal information.

IT Services will NEVER ask you to confirm Username and Password in this way.

IT Services Account Management Project

A project is taking place to improve the way IT Services manages accounts. At the moment the existing system and processes have become increasingly difficult to support and maintain. There are few clearly defined policies (rules) in place for every member of the University to support this, and limited documented processes for managing IT Accounts.
