How soon could schools reopen? Expert comment from Dr Michael Wyness

The leader of the Association of School and College Leaders has suggested that the earliest that schools could reopen following lockdown is 1 June. Dr Michael Wyness from the University of Warwick Centre for Education Studies has commented on how feasible this is and some of the factors that schools will have to consider when reopening to pupils.

Costs and consequences of data breaches - expert comment

"Market penalty depends a great deal on the type of breach, the sensitivity of the information, the number of records lost, the extent to which the firm ‘holds itself out’ as a safe guardian of data and the delay between breach and disclosure." Dr Jonathan Cave comments on the consequences that can flow from large data breaches such as the recent Virgin Media incident.

A new report by the WHO, the United Nations Children's Fund (Unicef) and the Lancet Commission looks at the future of the health and wellbeing of today's children. Warwick Medical School's Professor Sarah Stewart-Brown has praised this as a positive step, but argues that it could have gone further in recognising challenges to children's mental health.
