Here at the University of Warwick we offer several postgraduate courses centred on the study of food. Our Food GRP supports students and student research.
IFSTAL is an interactive training programme designed to improve post-graduate level knowledge and understanding of the food system. With funding from the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE), the programme brings together five leading higher education institutes.

Suppliers need to ensure we have food all year long at low cost and high quality. Climate change and a growing world population are putting pressure on governments, producers to plan ahead for food security. The world's population is rapidly increasing. Crop agriculture gives us food, fibres and fuel. This course provides the knowledge and practical skills for how crops are improved, grown and managed. We examine how we can adapt to future industry changes influenced by climate change, pressure on resources and food shortage.
This course looks at the sustainable provisions of food, materials, energy and landscape in a changing global environment. We explore issues related to sustainable food production and provision of ecosystem services. These include environmental bioscience, management, societal matters and regulation.
The UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), agreed in 2015, commit the international community to a set of 17 goals to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure prosperity. Of these, SDG#2 specifically aims to end hunger, end all forms of malnutrition, and ensure sustainable food production systems by 2030.
