Welcome Week in the Chaplaincy

Welcome Week events starting Sunday 25 September

'Open Chaplaincy' - every day between 09:00 - 17:00 during welcome Week, the Chaplaincy will be open for you to pop in. The Chaplaincy is a calm place, open to everyone, of any religion or none. Take a break from the the rush with a hot drink and snack in our friendly, welcoming space and meet others in a similar position.

'Catholic mass' - in the Chaplaincy at 12.30 on every Sunday in term time starting on Sunday 25 September, with the Catholic and Assistant Catholic Chaplains. Followed by refreshments.

'Church on Campus service' - at 17:00 in the Chaplaincy on every Sunday in term time, starting on Sunday 25 September. The service is led by our Anglican and Free Church Chaplains; followed by a meal together. Church on Campus welcomes Anglican, Free Church, just Christian, not sure and any one else who'd like to come! We extend a special welcome to those who have experienced unwelcome because of disability, sexuality, gender identity, neurological diversity, race or illness. In you, we see and celebrate the beautiful diversity of God.

Come and meet one of the Chaplains at the 'Living at University Fair' in the Oculus Building between 09:00 - 13:00 on Monday in welcome Week - you may even get some goodies.

'Community Lunch' - every Monday in term time, starting in Welcome Week, 12:00 - 13:30, in the Chaplaincy. Come and Join one of the Chaplains; Annie, for lunch and chat about life with her and other students.

'Craft Café' - every Tuesday in term time, starting in Welcome Week, 12:00 - 14:00 in the Chaplaincy. Join some of the Chaplains in the Chaplaincy, make friends and meet new people in a relaxed environment. Chill and chat over tea, cafetiere coffee and toast / cakes, with the option to 'get crafty'!! All materials supplied. We look forward to meeting you.

'Holy Communion' - A short lunchtime service of Holy Communion at 12.30,on Wednesday in Welcome Week and every Wednesday in term time, in the Chapel in the Chaplaincy. Led by our Anglican or Free Church Chaplain, anyone is welcome to this service.

'Faith, Friendship, Food' - Come and have lunch in the Chaplaincy on Wednesday in welcome Week at 13:00 and meet Chaplains, make new friends and find out something about what the Chaplaincy is and can offer you.

'Catholic Mass' - weekly in term time in the Chaplaincy, starting Thursday in Welcome Week at 12.00 midday. Followed by refreshments. After welcome Week, Catholic mass will be held at 12:30 for the rest of term.

'Bagel lunch with Rabbi Fishel' - Come and meet Rabbi Fishel, the Jewish Chaplain and share a Bagel Lunch in the Chaplaincy at 13:00 on Thursday. After Welcome Week, Bagel Lunch will be on Wednesdays at 13:00 in term time although it is always worth checking with Rabbi Fishel or the Chaplaincy Office as some weeks this changes to reflect the Jewish Festivals.

'Campus Walk' - meet the Chaplains at the Chaplaincy on Thursday in welcome week at 16:00 to meet new friends as we take a walk together on campus and discover some peace and space in the beauty around us.

'Board Games and Hot Chocolate' - 15:00 in the Chaplaincy on Sunday 2 October. A chance to meet Chaplains and other students and relax together over board games and hot chocolate (other drinks are available!).

'Friday prayers (Islamic)' - Friday prayers in the Islamic Prayer Hall on Central Campus at 13:00 with the Muslim Chaplain; Shaykh Imran Suleman.

The Chaplains welcome all new and returning students to the academic year 2022/23.

We would love to connect with you and you will see that there are plenty of opportunities throughout Welcome Week and the term ahead.
