Festive Feast Delivery for Volunteers

Food Truck

Volunteers at a major Christmas charity project in the Midlands were treated to a festive feast thanks to Warwick Conferences.

We took our food truck to the 'Free Radio Cash For Kids Mission Christmas' HQ at intu Merry Hill shopping centre to serve a complimentary lunch to the team of volunteers sorting gifts to be distributed to locally disadvantaged children.

More than 30 helpers tucked into a German Christmas market themed menu prepared by the catering team at Warwick Conferences, as they sorted gifts donated by the public for children who may have been waking up to no presents on Christmas Day.

Dishes served included Spiessbraten, a pretzel bun filled with slow cooked pork and German mustard, Bratwurst sausage and German waffles with chocolate.

Warwick Conferences was the first in the industry to hit the road with a fully-serviced catering van and has pioneered its use as a mobile tasting experience of its award-winning food around the country, and for events on site such as outdoor teambuilding sessions.

Lisa Hadfield, business development manager at Warwick Conferences, said: “The 'Free Radio Cash For Kids Mission Christmas' project makes such a huge difference to children who face waking up on Christmas Day without presents.

“We are proud to play a part in supporting the volunteers who help to ensure that Christmas morning is as magical as it can be for those children.

“We are well-known in the industry for our incredible food and were the first to invest in a food truck. It allows us to take our award-winning food to people around the country to experience, and provide a different element to catering for events on site.

“It’s always really popular with delegates and it seemed to be a big hit with the volunteers too.”

'Mission Christmas' takes place across the country, with shoppers encouraged to purchase one extra gift a year to be donated for children at their local drop-off point.

There are hundreds of drop-off points across the country, with more than 100 in the Midlands alone.

Tom Reeves, Charity Fundraising Executive at Free Radio Cash For Kids, said: “We are so grateful to Warwick Conferences for this treat.
“Our volunteers work long hours to ensure thousands of locally disadvantaged children get a gift in time for Christmas.

“Having a full belly of lovely food certainly made the hard work that bit easier.”
