Jonathan was posthumously awarded his LLB degree in July 1998. The tree was planted in his memory by staff and students - "Jonathan's powerful intellect and individualism was an inspiration to both staff and students. All who came into contact with him were enriched & ennobled."

Chosen by Mrs Dodge and donated by members of the School. The trees were planted by Mrs Dodge on 7th February 1997. Dr Jeffrey Samuel Dodge (1.3.1929 - 26.6.1994) former Director of Public Health for North East Warwickshire and Visiting Senior Clinical Lecturer in the School of Postgraduate Medical Education. Dr Dodge was the Course Director for Health Information Sciences courses and had been for nearly 10 years.

Holocaust Memorial Day
Oak (Quercus palustris)
We, The University of Warwick Jewish-Israeli Society, planted a tree on 5th Holocaust Memorial Day in Britain. The day we planted the tree, the 27th January 2005, is the 60th anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz death camp, where among others, 1 million Jews were systematically slaughtered. We have planted this tree in remembrance of victims of genocide and in commemoration of the Holocaust.

Professor Brain Houlden, 1926 - 2004. The trees were planted on 23rd November by Professor Houlden's son, Russ, and the Dean of Warwick Business School, Professor Howard Thomas, and in recognition of his long & distinguished service to the School of Industrial & Business Studies (now Warwick Business School). Brian was a founding member of the School, Chair from 1967 - 1973, and one of its longest serving professors.

Planted in memory of Steven Haffenden & Robert Kiest - scholars, gentlemen & all round great blokes. Both graduated in the summer of 1998. Steve died from a heart problem on 12th May 1999 and Rob in a road accident on 23rd January 2000. Fond memories are held by all those who came into contact with them & inevitably had many great times, be it in the Engineering Department, on the Rugby field, in the bar or around Redfern Flat J2.

There was a Memorial Service on 6th September 1999 organised by Karen's mother and attended by her family, students and staff. The trees were planted 27th November 1999 by students and staff who also donated a bench with a plaque. The inscription on the plaque is: ""Quoi que je fasse , ou je suis, rien ne t'efface , je pense à toi."" ""In loving memory of Karen Morris, died 19th September 1998, aged 23.""

Westwood Campus. Near the bungalow where the Pitts family lived for 17 years.
Mr Pitts died 24th June 1991 and the tree was planted in spring 2002. "In loving memory of my dear husband. A most proud father of his two children and four lovely grandchildren. So kind and caring. A man who always worked to the best of his ability at the College for 24 years. Our children grew up there and we all felt rather privileged to live in such lovely surroundings. Miss J. D. Browne lived next door & we now share so many happy memories."

Social Studies Courtyard. In the same courtyard stands a bench, donated by the Department of Sociology, bearing a commemorative plaque honouring Meg as a Professor in the Department of Socilogy and a Buddist.
The Acer palmatum 'Moonfire' in the Courtyard of the Social Studies Building was planted in honour of Meg (Margaret) Stacey on November 20th 2004. The tree was donated by the Midlands Sangha of the Community of Interbeing, a Buddhist community founded by Thich Nhat Hanh, of which Meg was a member with the name True Wonderful Practice. Academics, Buddhists, family & friends attended the tree planting ceremony.

Mary died in February 2003. The tree was donated and planted by her family and colleagues on 13th March 2003. A plaque was placed on a near by bench. "Mary loved the tranquillity of this beautiful area. Now her family and friends can visit this spot and remember the happy years she spent at the University. They feel this spot is a little bit of Mary."

This tree was planted, and dedicated to the memory of Bob “The Frog” Taylor by his family, friends and colleagues circa 2007, in celebration of his life and his work as a technician in the Department of Biological Sciences.

A group of 'Betual pendula' was planted on the original site in 2005 as a replacement for the original group of trees.

Fiona died 25th January 2001. The trees were donated and planted on 22nd November 2001 (a date close to her 40th birthday) by Lynda (a fellow student) and Peter Brown - "In memory of the wonderful times we had here."

The trees were donated as a living memory to Barrie Wilson who died suddenly aged 58, by his wife, Anne Wilson. ""We had great pleasure living near the University of Warwick, walking by the lake and watching the development of the Tocil Pool & the Wetlands. So it felt more fitting to plant trees and watch them grow than visit the Crematorium in memory of a so dearly loved husband, father and grandfather.""

Planted by Mr G. D. E. and Mrs I. M. J. Wilson (nee Rath) of Earlsdon, Coventry on 11th March 1994 through a donation made to the British Trust Conservation Volunteers. The trees were planted in memory of their only son who died of leukaemia, aged 19.

Millennium Wood

26 acres planted with native English woodland trees.
Between Tocil Wood and the Gibbet Hill Campus on both sides of the Intersite Footpath.
The Millennium Wood was funded through the Millennium Commission with additional financial support from the Sainsbury Family Charitable Trust and the Forestry Commission on a site leased to the University by Coventry City Council. Its creation was managed by the Woodland Trust as one of 250 'Woods on your Doorstep' schemes nationwide. Several hundred students and staff of the University and their families joined forces with local residents of all ages to plant over 2,000 trees that day in the first phase of this memorable community venture.

Planted by his parents on 26th February 2000. Adam , who died of cancer in October 1999, was a resident in Allesley Hall and, as a football fanatic, kicked a ball around many times in this spot beside the Lake - midway between his Rootes' residence and his Department, Biological Sciences.

Warwickshire Land. In the grassy area outside the Full-time MBA Teaching Centre (Radcliffe House).
Linda died in a yatching accident in Australia. The tree was planted by Linda's family and friends in a dedication ceremony on 30th November 2001 (a date close to Linda's birthday) organised by Adrian Watt. the location is where she used to sit with her MBA group.
