Mechanical Technician

Are you a skilled Mechanical technician looking for an exciting opportunity to showcase your expertise?

We're seeking a reliable and experienced Mechanical technician to join our dynamic team. If you're passionate about Mechanical systems, troubleshooting, and ensuring smooth operations, we want to hear from you!

In this role you’ll carry out routine, planned and reactive Mechanical maintenance duties, fault diagnostics and repairs to a wide range of Mechanical systems to ensure our customers receive a high quality, efficient response, and service. You’ll also work on minor installations for all Mechanical services throughout the University.

You will have an NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Mechanical Installations or Maintenance with the ability to carry out installations, as well as an excellent understanding of Health & Safety and the associated processes. In addition to a competitive base salary of up to £32,982 per annum, you’ll receive a market supplement of £2,000 per annum.

As a member of the Late/Weekend Shift, you’ll also receive a generous shift allowance (17% of your basic hourly rate) to compensate for working late shifts and at weekends Typically, the working pattern would be 8 days of up to 10-hour long in any 14 day period with a 36.5 hr week covering the hours 13:00 to 23:00 Monday to Friday and 07:30 to 18:00 on Saturdays and Sundays.

Maintenance Assistant

Based in one of our Zone teams, this is a varied role that will enable you to get involved across the trade specialisms in a truly multiskilled role. You’ll provide reactive and planned maintenance support to buildings in your zone, including statutory testing and basic repairs to electrical and mechanical systems and building fabric. The role involves carrying out the important tasks around campus that always need doing, (mainly high-volume, repetitive, lower-skilled tasks) which help provide an outstanding customer service experience to everyone who uses our buildings. You’ll assist the Maintenance Technicians and specialist trades teams with their work too, so a great opportunity to learn and progress in your trade(s) specialism if you wish. You’ll help transport materials and equipment and meet contractors.

Being a large campus that operates all day every day of the year, your regular shift pattern will be Monday to Friday business hours plus occasional weekends on a rota basis (approximately 5 weekends a year, you’ll only ever be required to work 5 days in 7.

You’ll have previous practical experience of building maintenance works in a varied environment and City & Guilds NVQ Level II in a relevant subject

A competitive base salary of up to £25,138 per annum.

Building Control Technician

The Building Controls Team are looking to expand and require a highly skilled BEMS Technician to join our highly motivated team. You will be responsible for the successful operation, continued development, and analysis of the University’s Building Energy Management System (BEMS) to the agreed KPI.

The servicing of building energy management systems in accordance with a particular design and specification. The Building Controls Technician is responsible for ensuring the energy management system continues being safe, technically correct and efficient.

The BEMS controls a wide variety of complex equipment and life critical alarms throughout the University Estate such as environmental systems, lifts, heating, ventilation equipment that form part of the services infrastructure.

This is an exciting time for the University of Warwick as we are preparing for a large-scale expansion and development on the Estate with the focus on SMART buildings and Technologies.

You will have completed a recognised engineering building services apprenticeship/training programme or equivalent in a HVAC or Electrical discipline. With the ability to carry out installation, planned and predictive maintenance to BEMS and associated electrical plant/systems.

You will need to be an autonomous self-starter with excellent organisational skills. The role will require you to work alongside other skilled trades and specialist contractors to ensure the high level of service as expected by our customers.

In addition to a competitive base salary of up to £32,982 per annum, you’ll receive a market supplement of £2,000 per annum.

Maintenance Technician (Electrical)

If you’re an Electrician, or a multiskilled tradesperson with an electrical bias, we would love to hear from you! We have multiple new Maintenance Technician roles that will provide all reactive and planned maintenance works in a particular zone on our campus. You will work in a team of tradespeople within a zone, you’ll be involved with statutory testing and basic repairs to our building fabric, and electrical and mechanical systems.

You’ll be working in a range of buildings and facilities that will challenge your trade skills across ground-breaking research facilities, student accommodation, sports, retail, and entertainment venues. This is a multiskilled role, for which you’ll receive training and support from across the trades. You’ll spend a significant proportion of your time on your trade specialism. No two days will be the same in this varied role where you’ll thrive on providing an outstanding customer service experience to all building users in your zone.

In addition to a competitive base salary of up to £28,759 per annum, you’ll receive a market supplement of £2,000 per annum.

Electricians

You will have NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Electrical Installations or Maintenance with the ability to carry out installation, maintenance and electrical testing and requirements in accordance with BS7671 18th Edition Wiring Regulations and Electricity at Work Act as well as an excellent understanding of Health & Safety and the associated processes.

In addition to a competitive base salary of up to £32,982 per annum (depending on your role), you’ll receive a market supplement of £2,000 per annum.

Contracts Supervisor (Electrical)

We’re looking to appoint a Contacts Supervisor in our growing Maintenance team at the University of Warwick. Salary up to £32,982 per annum plus a generous benefits package including hybrid working and 38 days leave (including bank holidays)

You’ll have qualifications or experience in electrical services and an understanding of electrical technical principles having carried out electrical installation and maintenance works using domestic, commercial and industrial equipment.

You’ll be responsible for supervising our contracts for outsourced electrical services to ensure that all statutory, planned and reactive maintenance is carried out by contractors to university standards and represents value for money. This appointment will focus on electrical services contracts; we have others in the Contracts team who supervise outsourced mechanical or building fabric services. Depending on your area of technical expertise and interest, there may be opportunity, if you wish, to supervise mechanical and/or building fabric services contracts in future.

It’s a varied role where you’ll also have the opportunity to be out in the field providing technical advice and support to university staff and contractors and writing up reports with your findings and recommendations on service continuity issues in your electrical area of expertise. You’ll also assist with the development of procedures designed to improve the operation of contracted services and be comfortable with the admin side of the role, maintaining records and documentation.

Contracts Supervisor Job Description  

Building Fabric Supervisor

We’re looking to appoint a Building Fabric Supervisor in our growing Maintenance team.

Salary package up to £38,982 per annum, plus a generous benefits package including 38 days leave (including bank holidays and customary days)

In this role you’ll be responsible for supervising the building fabric team and 3rd party contractors to ensure statutory, planned and reactive maintenance is provided to the university campus to agreed standards/KPIs. This will involve supervising and monitoring the workload of your teams to ensure tasks are carried out to the highest standards.

You will have a proven background in the building services sector as well as significant years’ practical working experience with the ability to carry out a range of building fabric related activities. Together with one of more of, or equivalent relevant qualifications to at least ONC/NVQ3 standard (or equivalent experience).
