A46 Road Improvement Works

Highways England is investing in the A46 in Coventry to unlock congestion, improve journey reliability and support economic growth across the West Midlands.

At Binley junction this involves building a flyover to separate long distance and local traffic, meaning drivers staying on the A46 will no longer need to slow down to use the roundabout, reducing congestion and making journeys safer. Improvements will also be made to footways and cycle paths, making it easier for everyone to stay connected.

Between now and when the new junction opens in Spring 2022, there will be changes to the road layout and at times some lanes or roads may be closed.

You’ll still be able to get to where you need to go, but the road network may be busier than usual so allow extra time for your journey.

To help you plan ahead, you can sign up to Highways England’s traffic management update by sending your name and email address to: A46Coventryjunctions@osborne.co.uk. The email bulletin is issued weekly and provides a handy look ahead to roadworks planned for the following week.

More information about the junction upgrade is available on the scheme’s webpage: www.highwaysengland.co.uk/our-work/west-midlands/a46-coventry-junctions-upgrade/ or at wmnetwork.co.uk/A46, or follow what’s happening on social media @WMRoads and @WMNetwork.
