Extreme heat update: Permit Office guidance

The Permit Office has issued a temporary update in response to the current Met Office red extreme heat warningLink opens in a new window.

All colleagues involved in permitted works are asked to take extra care over the coming days. Before any work begins, the requester and competent person/work controller must assess the conditions on site and decide whether it is safe to proceed.

If temperatures rise to a point where work becomes unsafe at any stage, activities should be paused and areas left in a safe and secure condition. Where materials cannot be removed, they must be properly secured.

The Permit Office will continue to monitor conditions closely and may suspend permits during the day if necessary to protect staff and contractors.

What this means for you

  • Review conditions before starting any permitted work
  • Stop work if conditions become unsafe
  • Leave all work areas secure if activity is paused
  • Follow any additional instructions issued by the Permit Office

We appreciate everyone’s cooperation in helping to keep our campus safe during this period of extreme weather.
