We’re acquiring a new building – and you might get to name it

Update: 9 April 2018

Thanks for all of your submissions. The 1st phase of the naming competition is now closed, but we'll be back soon with a shortlist for you to vote on.

Original message

At the end of April 2018, we will take ownership of a building on Westwood Business Park, currently known as “Surveyor Court”. That name doesn’t sound very Warwick to us, so we’d like to invite you to suggest a new name for the building.

The suggestions form is open until Friday 6 April. After that, we’ll post a shortlisted selection of entries on Tuesday 17 April for our campus community to vote on.

About the building

At 3,446m2, the new building will offer office space equivalent to about ¼ of what’s available in University House (plus Annexe) at present. Before anyone moves in, we plan to carry out some refurbishment work in June.

When it’s ready, it will serve as a permanent office for some, and will offer temporary project space for others when the need arises.

Getting to and from the building

The building comes with its own parking spaces – potentially as many as 150. This will help to mitigate those lost while Kirby Corner Car Park is under construction, and will provide for those who work in the building.

To make sure it’s properly connected to the rest of campus, the Shuttlebus will stop there regularly and we’ll create a new UniCycles bike hire station at the site. For those keen on being part of #activecampus, the building is a 1,180m/1,550 step walk away from University House.

You can see the exact location of the building on Google Maps.

Who will be based in the building?

We’re working with the Space Management and Timetabling team to establish which teams will be based in the building. If your department is part of this we will be in touch directly to confirm the arrangements and to support you through the process of moving.

We will share full details of what’s going to happen with our campus community closer to the time of the move.
