New and enhanced sports facilities

New and enhanced sports facilities

On Monday 9 October, SU Sports Officer Ellie Martin officially opened the new Claycroft Activity Zone - an outdoor sports facility that features exercise and climbing equipment, trampolines, swings and more. Over the summer we worked on both this and a new water-based hockey pitch on Westwood campus, helping to make Warwick Sport's vision for Warwick as the most physically active campus community in the UK by 2020 a reality.

These two projects go hand in hand with our ongoing work to create a new Sport and Wellness Hub, which will serve as the main centre for sporting activity on campus.

Claycroft Activity Zone

The new Claycroft Activity Zone is just behind the Claycroft residences (hence the name), and has already generated a lot of excitement on social media.

Hockey Pitch

The water-based hockey pitch is on Westwood campus, near the Tennis Centre. It's a striking sight to behold, in bold bright blue and white.

Our Parks initiative

To help achieve our vision of becoming the most active campus by 2020, Warwick Sport is now partnering with Our Parks to offer a free weekly outdoor class, starting November.

Our Parks is a brand new initiative bringing FREE, group exercise classes, led by experienced, fully qualified and insured instructors, to parks near you in partnership with Councils/Local Authorities.

Full details of the class will be added soon. Bookings will be made via the Our Parks website, so have a look around on there already and you might find another free class you can go to: www.ourparks.org.uk.
