A Note of Thanks

When the academic calendar quietens down, exams come to an end and graduations conclude it signals the time for our Estates, Accommodation and Conferencing teams to start a very hectic period of activity to renew and refurbish facilities and operate in a different manner as Conferences come to campus. Over this ten week period in the summer break, from Graduation to Arrivals weekend the professional services teams have worked tirelessly to refurbish, maintain, present and create new facilities for the University. Conference, Estates and Security teams have supported the increasing conferencing activity, such as the very successful British Science Festival, which attracted over 12500 visitors to campus, the Arrivals weekend and Welcome week. An impressive number of refurbishment and upgrade projects have been completed and two significant projects have been delivered, just in time; the new Cryfield phase 1 student accommodation and Degree Apprenticeship Centre. I know these facilities could not have been brought into operation without a brilliant team effort from Estates Accommodation, Cleaning, Projects, Facilities and Maintenance teams. The new Cryfield scheme now extends the quality and choice of student accommodation available and I am sure it will be a great success.

The completion of all this summer activity concluded on Arrivals weekend, the time when our new students and their parents come to site for the first time, so our welcome needed to leave positive memories. The immense amount of planning paid off, the arrivals operation went very smoothly and we welcomed over 6500 new arrivals so warmly and efficiently, showing Warwick in a very positive light.

The ownership, professionalism and teamwork demonstrated by all the individuals and teams over the summer in achieving such great results must be applauded. On behalf of the University and myself may I thank you all for your commitment, hard work and sheer determination to succeed.

Professor Stuart Croft, Vice Chancellor and President, University of Warwick
