Rootes grocery store shortlisted for Retail Industry Awards
Rootes grocery store on central campus has been shortlisted for two awards by the Retail Industry Awards: Food to Go Retailer of the Year and World Food Retailer of the Year (a new award for 2017).
Celebrating over 20 years of excellence, the Retail Industry Awards are widely regarded as ‘The Oscars’ of the grocery retail sector and reward excellence and outstanding achievement across a broad range of categories. It is the only time of year when the whole industry gets together to recognise the smallest independent retailers alongside the largest supermarket groups.
Understanding customers is key
To be nominated for the awards is testament to the hard work, dedication and commitment of Fabio, the store manager, and his team. The team pride themselves on delivering both great customer service and understanding what their customers want. With 40% international students on campus, the store team have worked closely with their suppliers to stock a large selection of authentic, international food and drink from around the world as well as catering for dietary and lifestyle choices such as Halal, vegetarian, vegan, dairy-free and "free from".
Similarly, the store's "food to go" offer (which accounts for 36% of sales), has been carefully selected to offer customers choice and value. We stock everything from sandwiches and salads to sushi and hot "grab and go" items (always very popular with students). You can even pick up a Costa coffee.
The winners will be announced at a gala awards night at The Grosvenor London on 28 September. Congratulations Fabio and the team and fingers crossed!
Hot off the press...
...and as if being nominated for two awards wasn't enough, the store have also just been shortlisted by Costcutter for three awards: Independent (brand) Retailer of the Year, Fresh Food Retailer of the Year and Food to Go Retailer of the Year. The winners will be announced at the Costcutter Awards at Ricoh Arena on 4 October.
