Recent Changes to the University Calendar
Revisions to Regulation 36
On 26 January 2022 the Senate approved revisions to Regulation 36 Student Registration, Attendance and Progress on the recommendation of the Academic Quality and Standards Committee, to support the withdrawal of sponsored students from their course who fail to meet the UK Visa and Immigration (UKVI) requirements. These changes took place with immediate effect post Senate approval and were noted by the Council on 9 February 2022.
Revisions to Regulation 9
On 26 January 2022 the Senate approved revisions to Regulation 9 Constitutions of Boards of Examiners to remove the reference to the constitution of Boards of Examiners for First Degrees, following approval by Senate of the recommendation from the Academic Quality and Standards Committee to dis-establish the First Year Boards of Examiners (FYBOE). These changes took place with immediate effect post Senate approval and were noted by the Council on 9 February 2022.
Revision to Ordinance 8
On 6 October 2021 the Senate approved an amendment to Ordinance 8 on Degrees, Diplomas and Certificates, to include the award of Foundation Degree in Science (FdSc). This was confirmed by Council on 13 October 2021.
Revision to Regulation 38
On 6 October 2021 the Senate approved a revision to Regulation 38 Governing Research Degrees to incorporate part-time study for the Engineering Doctorate (EngD) programme into section 38.3. This change took place with immediate effect, noted by the Council on 13 October 2021.
Revisions to Regulation 41
On 28 September 2021 the Vice-Chancellor took Chair’s action on behalf of the Senate to approve amendments to Regulation 41 Governing the Management of the Impact upon the University’s Academic Business of Force Majeure, to allow the award of credit for progression and award purposes. These changes took place with immediate effect, noted by the Council on 13 October 2021.
