Committee Vacancies

Academic governance is a term which refers to how the integrity and quality of the core higher education activities, including student learning, teaching and research, are governed.

At the University of Warwick, the Senate has principal responsibility for academic matters. It has several subcommittees, which focus on different aspects of its work, such as education, widening participation, research and ethics, and student learning experience and engagement.

Membership of these committees is drawn from across the University community and is made up of a combination of elected and appointed members.

We define good academic governance as a state where the Senate and its committees work coherently on behalf of the Council to self-govern education, research, and student matters inclusively and transparently, in support of the values, sustainability, strategy, and regulatory compliance of the University as a whole.

The Senate Nominations Panel has oversight of the composition and diversity of the Senate, its committees and its panels. They consider all nominations/applications and will make appointments to Academic Governance committees on behalf of the Senate.

To apply, read the information provided, then complete the online form by the given deadline. The form will allow you to explain why you would like sit on the named committee and what relevant experience you have.

The form will also ask you to confirm that you have discussed your application with your line manager (where applicable).

Some roles may have specific criteria linked to them, such as expertise in a certain field e.g. social inclusion. This will be clearly listed on the application form for the specific committee linked above.
