By creating a video demonstration of using the technology (software, web site, etc.) you can scaffold students understanding more efficiently, ensuring that all students have the technical understanding required before covering the topic in class. This also allows students to take things at their own speed, spending as much or as little time as they individually need to become confident with the required technologies.

  1. Plan your recording. This will be unique to your topic and may be an area that you are very familiar with. Despite this, it is helpful to run through the process to help plan out what you need to cover - making simple bullet points may be enough to ensure you cover each step. Think about what and how you intend to demonstrate each point. Keep it simple, a step-by-step screen capture with voice over can all be done at once and requires little or no editing.
