Unsupported Browser

Unfortunately, the browser you are using is not supported by Start.Warwick.

Why is my browser unsupported?

In order to offer the best user experience, Start.Warwick uses many advanced features of the Internet that are not supported by older browsers. While we have gone to our best efforts to ensure that popular old browsers are still supported and Start.Warwick degrades gracefully for these users, there are some browsers for which providing any experience would be to the detriment of others due to their severe deficiencies.

The following browsers fall into this category:

  • Microsoft/Windows Internet Explorer 7 (and previous versions, including Internet Explorer for Mac)
  • Opera 6 (and previous versions)
  • Netscape 4

All of these browsers have been superceded by newer, better alternatives. If your browser is not in this list, or you believe you have erroneously been redirected to this page, please contact ITS Web Team at webteam@warwick.ac.uk.

I'm already using Internet Explorer 8/9/10+, why am I affected?

It is highly likely that you have 'Compatibility Mode' enabled. 'Compatibility Mode' is designed for older web pages that worked better in Internet Explorer 7 and changes your version of Internet Explorer to mimic version 7. Start.Warwick (and much of the Warwick web sites in general) work best with this mode disabled. Find out how to disable compatibility mode.

How do I upgrade?

For the best user experience when using Start.Warwick, we recommend using a browser that is "HTML 5 compatible". Browsers that we have tested and verified work with Start.Warwick are:

* Internet Explorer 8 does not support all of the features of Start.Warwick.

Google Chrome Frame with Internet Explorer

If you are using Internet Explorer and you are unable to upgrade, one way in which you can utilise functionality of Start.Warwick is to install Google Chrome Frame. This is a small plugin to the Internet Explorer browser which will add all of the functionality required by Start.Warwick.
