Warwick Retail pledge to reduce single use plastic

As part of Green Week 2018, a student-led initiative committed to reducing the amount of single-use plastic in the University of Warwick. Sponsored by Warwick Retail and the SU, the students gave out free reusable water bottles to staff and students on campus in return for a pledge to use it instead of single-use plastic cups.

The initiative was a huge success with approximately 2000 bottles being claimed and as many pledges. The Registrar, Rachel Sandby-Thomas, who has a keen interest in sustainability, also came to make a pledge and claim a bottle.

Moving forward, we’ve made the decision to stop providing single use plastic cups in all of our outlets in an effort to cut down plastic consumption on campus.

We are excited about this change, and we want you to help support a sustainable campus by bringing your own cup and drinks bottle too, we can all reduce single use plastic.
