Warwick Retail pledge to reduce single use plastic

As part of Green Week 2018, a student-led initiative committed to reducing the amount of single-use plastic in the University of Warwick.

Sponsored by Warwick Retail and the SU, the students gave out free reusable water bottles to staff and students on campus in return for a pledge to use it instead of single-use plastic cups.

The initiative was a huge success with approximately 2000 bottles being claimed and as many pledges. The Registrar, Rachel Sandby-Thomas, who has a keen interest in sustainability, also came to make a pledge and claim a bottle/

Moving forward, Warwick Retail pledge to reduce the use of single-use plastic in our outlets, starting with the removal of disposable cups at our water dispensers.

By 31st March, none of our water dispensers will provide plastic cups, and after this time we advise staff and students to bring their own reusable water bottles.

We are thrilled to announce this change, contributing to our continued efforts towards becoming a more sustainable campus.

Thank you

Warwick Retail.
