Shaping the ‘third wave’ of Industrial Strategy Challenge areas
The Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund (ISCF) is a new fund for Research and Development that was announced as part of the Government’s Industrial Strategy. It will likely amount to £4.7bn of funding during the period 2017-2018 to 2020-21, and will be managed by UKRI from April 2018.
UKRI is now inviting industry-led expressions of interest (EOI’s) to provide suggestions for the future areas the ISCF should focus on in 2019.
This is NOT a funding competition, but is a chance to shape the funding priorities for the ISCF for 2019 and beyond, and a crucial opportunity to submit our ideas into the process.
EOIs must be aligned to one of the four interdisciplinary ‘Grand Challenge’ areas:
- Putting the UK at the forefront of the artificial intelligence and big data revolution;
- Maximising advantages to UK industry from the global shift to clean growth;
- Becoming a world leader in shaping the future of mobility;
- Harnessing the power of innovation to meet the needs of an ageing society.
Academics from all disciplines and faculties with a relevant proposal are encouraged to apply. Projects from the selected 'wave three' challenges should start from April 2019 and run for up to three years.
For academics interested in finding out more there will be a briefing session on campus on Thursday 15 March 2018.
Please register your interest for the briefing here.
The deadline for expressions of interest is 18 April 2018 and detailed information on submitting an application is available here.
