About the Event
This event is hosted by the Warwick Policy Hub, the Innovation and Research Caucus (IRC), and the Warwick Business School Impact & Engagement Community.
With funding from ESRC, Dr Dan Barlow (University of Edinburgh) and Dr Sarah Morse (Swansea University) are embedded in devolved legislatures to strengthen academic engagement to support policy scrutiny.
Through a mix of short presentations, sharing of examples, and Q&A discussions, the session will cover devolved policy responsibilities, the benefits of engaging with devolved legislatures, routes for engaging, and tips and ideas for supporting effective engagement.
Meet Our Speakers
Dan Barlow is employed by the University of Edinburgh on behalf of a partnership with the Scottish Parliament and the Universities of Edinburgh, Glasgow and Strathclyde and Stirling.
Dan is seconded into the Scottish Parliament Information Centre (SPICe) as Knowledge Exchange Manager. Dan’s background includes previous roles as manager of Scotland’s Centre of Expertise on Climate Change, Climate Adviser to the Scottish Parliament’s Net Zero, Energy and Transport Committee, Senior Researcher for SPICe and senior policy and research roles in the NGO community.
Sarah Morse is employed by Swansea University on behalf of a partnership with Senedd Cymru - Welsh Parliament and Swansea and Cardiff Universities.
Sarah is seconded into Senedd Research as Knowledge Exchange Manager, working closely with the Knowledge Exchange Lead. She previously worked in policy and public affairs at Wales’s national academy and has worked closely with academic researchers throughout her career.
