STFC: 5.2.5 Travel and subsistence. Specifically:
'The costs of additional childcare, beyond that required to meet the normal contracted requirements of the job, and that are directly related to the project, may be requested as a directly incurred cost if the institutional policy is to reimburse them. However, childcare costs associated with normal working patterns may not be sought.'
AHRC don’t have any formal guidance relating to caring responsibilities, but have in the past dealt with
these on a case by case basis along the same lines as the policy outlined by EPSRC. This would be in relation to individuals who have been invited to attend an event or selected to attend an event via a competitive process, and
whose own university wouldn’t cover the costs.
