Action Plan
In the space below, write a summary of your research project. Remember your ‘elevator pitch’ in Briefing 1, and include a summary of what your research project is investigating, the activities your research will involve and why you have chosen this area to research The questions below will help you evaluate your two objectives against the ‘SMART’ criteria, to make sure that they are specific, measurable, advantageous, realistic and time-limited.
I am investigating the difference between what is eaten and grown in a speciafic area of Coventry (CV1). I intend to use a mixture of qualitative and quantitative methodology: to produce collaboratively written recipe poems out of an in-depth interviews, to do so in a way which is demographically accurate: with a sample frame, for representativeness.
As part of your research experience, you are required to set two clear and achievable goals that will motivate you to develop your research skills and knowledge Identifying these objectives will help you to make the most out of your experience and will enable you to measure your development as a researcher. These goals could include learning how to access archives, attending a conference, working in a research team or attending a training workshop, but be creative and think about what is relevant for your project.
Development goal 1
I am going to network with Sociology staff and students, to research experts working outside of academia, to identify relevant literature in the library, and to ask questions of census staff.
I am intrigued by the question the idea of representability in poetry.
I will be able to comment on the issue of representabilty and document my efforts to achieve it - whether or not I did.
By the end of the first four weeks of my project I'll have my frame (or will have given up on one). Within six weeks, I would like to have gathered my poems, to enable time for their analysis.
I will know why I am asking the my interviewees to be interviewed
Development goal 2
I would like to compare qualitative and quantitative research data
I am going to acquire information on what is grown in CV1 allotments through a spread sheet, to use qualitative methods to write recipe poems
I would like to promote the place of poetry in a research university
I will limit my data to a small geographical area, including in terms of population
The end of my project (the middle of August)
I will have a coherent written anaysis of what happened
