Internationalisation of the Warwick curriculum

Multi-disciplinary research project into the internationalisation of the Warwick curriculum

Applications for this URSS project are specifically invited from students to work collaboratively in a small group across the three Faculties of Arts, Social Sciences and Science, Engineering and Medicine to conduct a piece of research into the extent to which Warwick curricula are internationalised.

More information

Drawing on an existing piece of work conducted by 2 PhD students in summer 2024, you will explore the different ways in which international, intercultural and linguistic elements contribute to a Warwick education across the three Faculties.

You will be supported to access and interrogate the existing Warwick module catalogue, departmental resources and engage in follow-up enquiry with academic departments within your faculties to establish the range and depth of international curriculum experiences. You will develop a typology of such elements and, using student module engagement data, research the proportions of the student community benefitting from each.

You will need to be comfortable working in a multi-disciplinary team, engaging directly with a range of academic departments to interrogate their curricula and learning more about their teaching.

Your research should lead to rich conversations in a range of disciplines with Directors of Studies, Directors of Student Experience, Education and International leads in Faculties. You will benchmark best practice in internationalised curricula in the UK and overseas to support the generation of recommendations about the future Warwick curriculum.

Finally, you will wish to move beyond your research findings to consider evidence-led recommendations you may wish to make to the University about driving greater consistency in student experience, increasing engagement with international experiences and capturing the impacts of international experiences and teaching. Your research may impact what is taught at Warwick in the years ahead!
